The recipes in Chow Down: Concepts on
Good Cooking and Good Eating are designed unlike any other cookbook.
They are about being a starting point for an idea or a dish, then about
"following the recipe" The recipes are designed for you to
tailor them to your wants, your likes, your needs, your tastes and more
important your goals!
Each recipe starts with well…
obviously its name, then a little blurb about the dish. Now this lead in
may be how Sammy likes it, how it can be served, ya never know, what
will lead a recipe. Odds are though it will start with some statement
about Sammy loving, liking, craving it etc! Then it gives you a list of
what to put in it. Well… at least some ideas of what to put in it. You
will see what I mean. Then of course the recipe tells you how to make
it, some even suggest different ways to prepare it. Then each recipe is
followed by a general idea of how much it makes, along with different
suggestions or quick references for serving sizes.
Chow Down: Concepts on Good Cooking
and Good Eating is about what you want. If all you want and care about
is having a great dish made with things you like, just use these recipes
and tailor them to your likes. It will not hurt Sammy’s feelings if
you ignore the rest of the information provided with them. This is about
you enjoying your creation!
If you, however, want an idea of what
the calorie and fat gram are in a dish, well Chow Down: Concepts on Good
Cooking and Good Eating, has you covered. One of the unique things with
this book is with each item in the ingredients list you will find its
calorie and fat content listed also. So as you tailor a dish to your
likes you can still know what the final calorie and fat content is.
Chow Down: Concepts on Good Cooking
and Good Eating is based on the idea that one size does not fit all. So,
each recipe is followed by about how much the complete recipe as written
makes and it calorie and fat content, as a whole recipe. Then there are
several suggested serving sizes, each also with the calorie and fat
contents if prepared to the recipe.
What the recipe structure of Chow
Down: Concepts on Good Cooking and Good Eating allows you to do is make
changes to a recipe and still be able to know what the calorie and fat
content is. If the recipe calls for mushrooms and you don’t have or
want them for the dish, you can leave them out and you can subtract that
amount from the final dish, because with the ingredients list you know
how many calories and fat grams are in the mushrooms.
Sometimes all we need to know is ways
to make changes in order to change. With Chow Down: Concepts on Good
Cooking and Good Eating that goes for how we live and feel as well as
for recipes.
